Later better gas masks with a small box to help clean air be breathed. Tear gas has very painful range of injuries from the eyes,ears, skin and any part of your body. Tear gas has a powerful affect to your body when inhaled. This is why the brave soldiers wore gas masks to not breathe it in. Chlorine is a yellow green gas with a strong bleach like odor. Soldiers who encountered the gas described the smell as a mix of pepper and pineapple. Chlorine reacts with water in the lungs. It results in coughing, vomiting, and irritation to the eyes. The chlorine was used by German forces at Ypres on April 1915. British forces used it for the first time at loos on September.
The innervation of gas weaponry did have a huge impact on the outcome of the war because of all the fatalities and injuries caused by the gas warfare to both sides. |
